The following is my response in a thread over at Newsarama. The thread title is the same one as of this post...
As big a PowerGirl fan as I am...'m gonna say NO (not yet).
To make a PG movie right now would be like giving WildCat, GA Flash, Black Canary, Hawkgirl and, well, almost any other member of the JSA-JLA teams a standalone movie, (leaving out the Trinity). Not even Alan Scott could/should get a movie of his own, and he's the eldest/most respected character b/w the two teams. (Similar examples for any other DC 'team').
Moreover, as with any member of the families (core or extended) of the Big-3, any movie would have the problem of dealing with theie gigantic shadows, in this case Superman. The problem is only increased when one takes into account that most of the movie going audience won't be comic readers, meaning they won't give two sh!ts about whether the Supes shown/hinted at is from Earth-1, Earth-2 or whatever. An older or dead Superman will also cause problems (however small) for the Superman movie franchise, which, thanks to the colossal crap heap that was SR has enough problems of it own.
These are but two reasons as to why there shouldn't/won't be a Power Girl, for that matter, a Nightwing, Super Girl, Wonder Girl, Robin etc movie.
...and all this without even taking into account/mentioning DC's continuing inability/reluctance to get a Power Girl ongoing/series of minis going. They just keep wasting the opportunity raised by the odd story arc they do focus towards her every few years.
